Daniel Matto - New CD

The very talented Daniel Matto just released a new CD called I'm Old Fashioned. The sound? I think Michael Buble. You can hear songs from the new CD on his Website.

Warning: If you just let the music play in the background for a while as you're browsing or checking email, you may find yourself wanting the CD :)

CTV Personalities - Part 1

Here are a few images from a recent shoot with CTV personalities - Maria Panopalis, Jayson Baxter and Cyril Lunney. What a great bunch of people 'off-camera' and of course they were pretty good in front of our cameras too :)

Sheila Aucoin

Kate and I had the pleasure of spending some time with the talented and beautiful Sheila Aucoin. We didn't get to hear her sing but she certainly made this gorgeous Steinway come to life!

$4,000 for Haiti

Our auction to raise funds for the people of Haiti ended Friday and we are so pleased with the results. Late Friday we received a very generous bid of $1,000 from Steve. This completely made my day and it turned out to be the high bid. But this was not to be the end of the story...

On Saturday afternoon I discovered another bid of $1,000 that ended up mistakenly flagged as spam. This bidder asked to remain anonymous and wished to donate the session to a deserving family. We contacted the second bidder to explain that we already awarded the prize but if they would like to still donate, we'd offer an additional prize of equal value. They said yes!

With the Canadian government matching donations this $2,000 becomes $4,000!

To Steve and his family and our anonymous bidder, thank-you so much. As terrible a tragedy as the recent earthquake in Haiti is, it is amazing to see how much kindness and generosity there is in this world.

On Set

A very good friend of mine, Kevin Kincaid invited me to the set of a short film he was producing. It's called Bernard the Magician and I can't wait to see the finished product! It was my first time behind the scenes on a film set. I was blown away...

There are so many people involved with titles like 'grips', 'gaffers' and 'DOPs'. It was like a beehive surrounding the actors. Megan, Keith, Jeff, Sean, Mallory, Andy and everyone else - you guys are amazing at what you do!

Then there's Bernard, played by Zach Fraser. Kate and I met Zach at Kevin's wedding and I have to say that beyond being one of the nicest people you could ever meet, is an amazing actor.

Help for Haiti

Like so many, I have been shocked by the level of destruction and despair that I am seeing in Haiti. While I'm here in Canada posting images of my daughter with her birthday cake, someone else's daughter is fighting for her life stuck under a pile of rubble. While my first reaction was to grab my credit card and make a donation, I thought that maybe we could do a little more...

We would like to take bids on a portrait session photographed by Kate and I. Along with the 2 hour session, we will also include our biggest collection which includes a fine art album, all the retouched files and a $600 print/canvas credit. The total value is over $2,100.

We will travel anywhere in Nova Scotia for this session. It can be a family, newborn, maternity, boudoir or engagement session. You can also gift the session to someone. The session can take place anytime in 2010.

We will offer the package to the highest bidder and every single penny will go toward the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund.

The bidding has now closed.

Please email me directly with your bids: alex@amphoto.ca

Winning Bidder: $1,000
